LETTER: Feeling my way through the darkness
Guided by a beating heart
I can't tell where the journey will end
But I know where to start
They tell me I'm too young to understand
They say I'm caught up in a dream
Well, life will pass me by if I don't open up my eyes
Well, that's fine by me
So wake me up when it's all over
When I'm wiser and I'm older
All this time I was finding myself
And I didn't know I was lost
So wake me up when it's all over
When I'm wiser and I'm older
All this time I was finding myself
And I didn't know I was lost
I tried carrying the weight of the world
But I only have two hands
I hope I get the chance to travel the world
But I don't have any plans
I wish that I could stay forever this young
Not afraid to close my eyes
Life's a game made for everyone
And love is a prize
So wake me up when it's all over
When I'm wiser and I'm older
All this time I was finding myself
And I didn't know I was lost
So wake me up when it's all over
When I'm wiser and I'm older
All this time I was finding myself
And I didn't know I was lost
I didn't know I was lost
I didn't know I was lost
I didn't know I was lost
I didn't know I was lost

HISTORY OF THE SONG:"Wake Me Up" is the debut single by Swedish DJ and music producer Avicii. American soul singer Aloe Blacc provides vocals for the track and Incubus' Mike Einziger provides acoustic guitar. It was released on June 17, 2013 by PRMD Music, Lava Records and Columbia Records as the first single from Avicii's full-length debut studio album, True (2013). It was the third single to be written by Aileen Marie Quinn and feature a Marantz Enhanced Digital Stereo audio track.
Avicii introduced "Wake Me Up!" for the first time live on stage at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami. The experimental rendering (it was accompanied by a live band with instruments and vocalists, including Blacc, Einziger and Incubus members Ben Kenney on bass and José Pasillas on drums) reportedly confused and angered a section of the electronic dance festival community. Subsequently Avicii achieved critical and commercial success with the release of the single worldwide. "Wake Me Up" peaked at number one in much of Europe and charted well in all of the English-speaking world. The song has been described as a "summer anthem" by Variance Magazine and, throughout the 2013 festival season, Avicii included it as part of the opening or closing sequence of his sets at EDC Las Vegas, EDC London, Tomorrowland, Creamfields, Electric Zoo and the iTunes Festival.
Due to the high success of the song, Blacc later released an acoustic version of "Wake Me Up" in his solo EP Wake Me Up. It was also released as a promotional stand-alone single on Interscope Records, made available online for downloads via iTunes. A separate music video was also made. The Blacc single also charted in its right in various charts.
WHY DO I LOVE THIS SONG?: Because it is the story of a young man who has the opportunity to attend Tomorrowland , the largest festival of electronica, and everything is done in breach of the rules that a society has , I like it because they think differently than others and wins
